The Shri Hari Satsang Samiti carefully selects brothers and sisters from the rural hinterlands for the formation of storytellers and scholars — Vyas and Acharyas.
Once chosen they undergo a rigorous nine-month training at the Samiti's centres across the country — Ayodhya, Agra, Navadweep, Nashik, Dibrugarh, Amarkantak and Puri — imbuing them with discipline, self-control and a mastery of the art of storytelling.
After completing their training these storytellers are sent to the forest areas to educate local communities on their cultural heritage, traditions and way of life through the Ramayana, Shrimad Bhagavatam and Shiva Purana. In the village centres they conduct daily, weekly and fortnightly Satsang and group study, and journey from village to village organising religious gatherings and promoting a collective commitment to addiction-free living.
Why
Villages need teachers of their own: men and women from the rural hinterland who can carry the epics, the culture and a message of discipline back home.
How it works
Nine months of disciplined storytelling training at seven centres, then a lifetime of Katha, Satsang and svadhyaya in the villages.
Who it is for: Brothers and sisters selected from rural areas
Where: Training centres: Ayodhya, Agra, Navadweep, Nashik, Dibrugarh, Amarkantak, Puri
